Hi, I’m Pravin Kumar, an IT professional and cybersecurity enthusiast currently pursuing a Bachelor of Cybersecurity at Durham College. With over three years of experience in Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support, I’ve built a strong foundation in troubleshooting complex issues across Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. My expertise spans cloud and virtualization technologies, networking and security concepts, and automation using PowerShell and Linux terminal.

I’m passionate about leveraging technology to solve problems, enhance security, and drive innovation. My career journey has taken me from providing first-line support at TechnoSprint to excelling as a Helpdesk Support Specialist at Trimble, where I refined my skills in Active Directory management, cloud platforms, and ensuring security compliance.

Work Experience

Help Desk Support Specialist
Trimble Inc. - Full-time

In my role as a Helpdesk Support Specialist at Trimble, I provided Tier-2 IT support, both onsite and remotely, resolving escalated technical issues for Windows, Mac, and Linux users. My key responsibilities included:

1. Leading system imaging, software installations, and deployment projects, while troubleshooting any post-deployment issues for Windows and Apple devices.
2. Diagnosing and resolving hardware issues on laptops and desktops, performing component upgrades such as RAM and storage when necessary.
3. Onboarding new employees and delivering training on best practices and security protocols for company devices.
4. Utilizing tools like the Linux terminal, Command Prompt, Wireshark, SolarWinds, Jira Service Desk, TeamViewer, Windows Event Monitor, and Mac Console to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
5. Automating tasks using PowerShell scripts, including Active Directory management and retrieving data from the inventory management system.
6. Managing endpoint security using CrowdStrike for threat detection and resolution, and ensuring data protection through CrashPlan backups and recovery, maintaining business continuity and compliance.
7. Assisting with audits by maintaining accurate IT asset documentation and ensuring proper hardware disposal and redeployment processes.
8. Managing mobile devices and corporate mobile plans, providing support and configuration for smartphones and tablets.
